Airfield Information
Newcastle Aerodrome is located in county Wicklow in class G airspace. The aerodrome boasts a 690M grass runway that is usable all year round. Ample aircraft parking, great food and many stories make Newcastle Aerodrome a great place to visit! We have become one of the most active airfields in Ireland for both private GA and also flight training. Please read the following information below for any aircraft wishing to visit.
Arrival Procedures
Newcastle Aerodrome has strict arrival/departure procedures as follows:
  • All arriving/departing aircraft must self announce their intentions on 122.55 (Newcastle Radio)
  • PPR is required for arriving aircraft (John Nugent - 0862394417)
  • All circuits are to the sea
Runway orientation is 18/36 and is 690M x 30M. Aircraft parking is at the end of the taxiway beside the hangars. Please park on the edge of the taxiway and not in the middle as not to cause disruption to departing/arriving traffic using the taxiway.

North Arrivals

Aircraft arriving from the North are requested to track the N11 motorway from Bray as far as Druids Glen golf course. On reaching Druids Glen, aircraft must track directly to the airfield (South East from Druids Glen) to join overhead the airfield not below 1500ft. Once overhead, aircraft can then join the appropriate downwind for the active runway. Avoid overflying Newcastle village at all times (directly west of the airfield).

East Arrivals

Aircraft arriving from the East can directly join the downwind for the appropriate runway. Aircraft from the East should use caution when joining the circuit and listen out for any other traffic.

South Arrivals

Aircraft arriving from the South are requested to route to Wicklow town and follow the N11 northbound. The first reporting point is the services station on the N11. Aircraft must then follow the N11 as far as Druids Glen golf course.

West Arrivals
